Thank You For Visiting!

Make music, friends, and memories with the Madison City Youth Orchestra!

The Madison City Youth Orchestra is a 501 (c) (3) organization that provides area students in elementary and middle school, regardless of ability level or need, the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform in a full-orchestra setting. Conductors are skilled, engaging, and energetic, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. High school students who are less experienced or who want to serve as interns/peer mentors are also welcome to join our orchestra. These students appreciate the opportunities they are given to peer-mentor, intern, and conduct! We all learn from each other!

The Madison City Youth Orchestra is a modern orchestra, allowing varied instrumentation from violins and cellos to saxophones and tubas. All genres of music, from Classical to Show Tunes, are performed. Concerts are held formally twice a year, as well as throughout the community at venues such as the Dublin Park 4th of July Celebration, Bridgestreet Towne Center's Lighting of the Christmas Tree, and Santa's Village. Students are encouraged to share their gifts!

We have 4 levels of orchestra: Novice, Prelude, Beginning, and Intermediate. Novice students are brand new to the instrument or have not completed the first half of method book one. Prelude students are working through the second half of method book one. Beginning students are working through book two. Intermediate students are out of book two.

Auditions run the first four weeks of orchestra and occur the hour before regular rehearsals. To schedule an audition, please contact Renee Collins at 256 653 8901 or message us here or on Facebook. Students should prepare an exercise or piece from their current book for auditions. There will also be sight-reading.

Age, grade level, school attended, and chair placement in any other organization has no bearing on our auditions. Private lessons are not required for participation in the Madison City Youth Orchestra; however, if you choose to enroll your child in lessons, you can find a list of qualified instructors on the "Private Teachers" tab above.
